Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked the EU to provide Ukraine with a "clear date" for its accession to the bloc. Without such a date or guarantee, Vladimir Putin would find a way to block Ukraine from joining by dividing the EU, the Ukrainian president told members of the EU parliament during a speech via video link. After the start of the war, the EU had granted Ukraine candidate status for its accession to the bloc but negotiations to join typically take years.
