Watch as dozens of multi-ton lava blocks rapidly roll down a portion of the Santa Maria volcano, descending 3,000 feet, bouncing along the way. This is specifically occurring on its Santiaguito lava dome which has been continuously erupting since 1922. These fragments are indeed still molten, often reaching temperatures of around 871°C / 1,600°F. Note: Under NO circumstances should you ever attempt to get as close to the erupting Santa Maria volcano (its Santiaguito lava dome) as shown in this footage.
