Storm Goretti will hit the UK later today - with the Met Office warning of power cuts and areas likely being cut off. The storm, which was named by the French meteorological service, will move in across the UK throughout today - bringing impacts such as strong winds, heavy rain and heavy snow, Robinson said. She added the process of the storm "deepening" at speed is also known as explosive cyclogenesis - which is sometimes referred to as a "weather bomb".
