A leading referee from Somalia has been denied entry to the US for the World Cup finals. Omar Artan was stopped at Miami International Airport as he arrived for the event. Artan was named Africa's best referee in 2025 and was in line to become the first ‌person from Somalia to officiate a World Cup match.
