After an intense period of unrest, the potentially dangerous and explosive Sinabung volcano erupted anew on August 31st 2026. This initial eruption scorched about three quarters of a square kilometer with a pyroclastic flow, specifically towards the north-northeast. Today's video discusses Sinabung's eruption so far, and discusses one possibility on what might be expected if a long term eruption does end up happening. Note: Since I do not yet have any licensed images of Sinabung's 2026 eruption, I am using a photo from a different volcano erupting to try and portray the specific intensity of Sinabung's initial eruption on August 31st 2026 in this video's thumbnail image.
