Two Tulsa firefighters suffered burns after becoming trapped inside a burning warehouse, prompting a mayday and rescue by a rapid intervention crew

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa firefighters rescued two crew members who became trapped inside a burning warehouse.

Firefighters responded around 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 25 to the warehouse near 4th Street and Peoria Avenue and found heavy fire conditions, NewsOn6 reported. Crews entered the building to attack the fire before two firefighters became trapped, prompting a mayday.

“We deployed our rapid intervention crew, they were able to enter through the A side and rescue those two firefighters,” Assistant Chief Jarrod Perry said. “At this time, they are okay and have minor burns and are at the hospital receiving treatment right now.”

The two firefighters suffered burns to their upper bodies and were taken to a hospital for treatment. Officials said their injuries were not life-threatening and they are expected to recover.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
