The Okinawa Harborview Hotel is entering a new chapter with the completion of a full-scale renovation that celebrates its 50-year legacy while introducing a fresh vision of modern Okinawa.

Following the extensive transformation of its guest rooms, dining venues, Club Lounge, lobby, Garden Pool, and other facilities, the hotel is set to hold its grand opening in summer 2026. The renovation brings together contemporary comfort, traditional Okinawan influences, and elevated hospitality in the heart of Naha.

Originally opened in 1975 during the Okinawa International Ocean Exposition, the hotel has welcomed travelers, dignitaries, and guests from Japan and around the world for five decades. Its latest transformation aims to carry that heritage forward while creating a more refined experience for today’s travelers.

Guest Rooms Inspired by Ryukyu Indigo

The renovated guest rooms take inspiration from Ryukyu indigo, one of Okinawa’s traditional colors. Warm tones and thoughtful design details create a relaxing atmosphere that reflects the island’s character while maintaining the comforts expected of a modern hotel.

Among the upgraded accommodations is the Club Executive Twin, designed for longer stays. The room includes an all-in-one washer and dryer, microwave, and other convenient appliances, making it suitable not only for leisure travelers but also for business travelers and extended visitors.

The focus is on creating rooms that feel both comfortable and practical, giving guests a welcoming base from which to explore Naha and the wider Okinawa region.

Naha’s Largest Club Lounge

One of the hotel’s most significant additions is its expanded Club Lounge, now the largest of its kind in Naha.

Located on the rooftop, the lounge offers expansive city views alongside a selection of food and beverages throughout the day. Rather than simply functioning as an executive lounge, it has been designed as a place where guests can experience Okinawan flavors and embrace the island’s relaxed pace.

Breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner, and late-night offerings provide distinct culinary experiences throughout the day. The lounge remains open until midnight, giving guests a comfortable place to unwind after sightseeing, dining, or exploring Naha’s nightlife.

For travelers staying in club rooms, the lounge adds another layer of exclusivity and convenience to their stay.

A Resort-Style Garden Pool in the City

The renovated Garden Pool brings a resort-like atmosphere to the center of Naha.

Reopened on June 1, 2026, the pool has been redesigned as a relaxing retreat where guests can escape the pace of the city. During the day, in-water loungers and beach chairs provide spaces for soaking up Okinawa’s sunshine and blue skies.

As evening arrives, atmospheric lighting transforms the pool area, creating a more tranquil setting for nighttime relaxation.

Adding to the experience is a newly opened poolside bar, where hotel chefs and bartenders prepare food and drinks featuring local ingredients. Guests can enjoy Okinawan-inspired flavors in a casual outdoor setting without leaving the hotel.

Kobe Beef and Okinawan Flavors at Teppanyaki Izumizaki

Dining is another major highlight of the hotel’s transformation.

Teppanyaki Izumizaki embraces the concept of blending the past and present of the Ryukyu Islands. The restaurant offers local beef and is also the first in-hotel restaurant in Okinawa certified to serve Kobe Beef.

The teppanyaki experience is designed to engage all five senses. Guests can watch chefs prepare premium ingredients directly on the grill while enjoying the sights, sounds, aromas, and flavors of the cooking process.

Traditional Okinawan pottery is also incorporated into the presentation, adding a distinctive local touch to an otherwise sophisticated dining experience.

The result is a restaurant that combines premium Japanese cuisine with elements of Okinawan craftsmanship and culinary culture.

A New Chapter After 50 Years

The Okinawa Harborview Hotel first opened in 1975 in connection with the Okinawa International Ocean Exposition. Over the following decades, it established itself as one of Naha’s notable urban hotels and welcomed visitors from across Japan and around the world.

To mark its 50th anniversary in 2025, the property embarked on a comprehensive renovation to prepare the hotel for the next generation.

The project encompasses the guest rooms, restaurants, Club Lounge, lobby, Garden Pool, and other key areas. Rather than simply modernizing the property, the renovation seeks to combine contemporary design and comfort with the traditions, flavors, and hospitality that make Okinawa distinctive.

For travelers seeking an upscale base in Naha, the renovated hotel offers a blend of city convenience and resort-style amenities. From Ryukyu-inspired guest rooms and an expansive Club Lounge to a redesigned pool and Kobe Beef teppanyaki, the property presents a polished interpretation of contemporary Okinawan hospitality.

As the Okinawa Harborview Hotel begins its next chapter, its goal is clear: to preserve the spirit of five decades of hospitality while creating a new vision of “modern Okinawa” for the next 50 years.
