BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio — A North Royalton firefighter died while battling a house fire in Broadview Heights.

Firefighters responded to the 2100 block of West Royalton Road on Nov. 2 before 9:00 p.m., WJW reported

A second North Royalton firefighter was also injured in the incident. In a Facebook post, the fire department said the injured firefighter was in serious but stable condition.

Dispatch radio traffic captured a mayday call, along with a report that a firefighter was down in the basement and that a second squad was urgently needed, WJW reported.

There are no details on what led to the mayday or how the firefighters were injured.

The identities of the firefighters have not been released.
