A major landslide occurred 12 days ago in Italy, causing the town of Niscemi to be literally split in 2. In one particular 1.19 km² region with many buildings, the ground moved by an average of 33 meters or 108.3 feet. Buildings at the edge of the landslide were split in half, while others tumbled as much as 70 feet downslope. Today's video discusses the landslide which occurred along with giving an attempted damage estimate. The good news is that the main landslide blocks appear to have mostly stopped moving, although continued smaller collapses along the scarp cliff edges are still occurring.
