In Cambodia, rising temperatures and recurring droughts are threatening crop yields and farmers’ incomes in rain-fed agricultural areas. To help communities adapt, HEKS Cambodia is working with smallholder farmers to introduce cover cropping, a simple, affordable practice that improves soil health, retains moisture and strengthens resilience to heat and drought. Supported by the UNDP-Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA), the initiative has established 331 hectares of regenerative agriculture and trained 1,600 farmers, most of them women, across Preah Vihear, Battambang and Kampong Thom.
