South Spartanburg Fire District footage shows crews making entry, attacking the fire and conducting a window-initiated search

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The South Spartanburg Fire District shared video from inside a house fire response in the Roebuck community.

Fire officials said crews were called to the fire on June 8. The video, posted to social media, shows firefighters making entry, searching for victims and working to extinguish the flames.

The video shows firefighters entering the home, advancing a hoseline and attacking the fire while other crews conduct a window-initiated search and search the interior for potential occupants.

Officials said one person escaped before firefighters arrived and was taken to a hospital by EMS with minor injuries. Crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the home when they arrived.

Mutual aid partners from the city and county assisted at the scene, while North Spartanburg Fire Department Engine 20 covered Station 24 for additional calls.

Do you think departments should share videos like this with the public? Why or why not? Do they help educate the community and showcase the realities of the job, or are there concerns about privacy, safety and public perception?
