Dusit Hotels and Resorts is set to introduce its locally inspired ASAI Hotels brand to Malaysia with the opening of ASAI Gamuda Cove in Selangor on 15 September 2026.

Located within the expansive 1,530-acre Gamuda Cove township, the 13-story property will be ASAI’s largest hotel to date, offering 280 rooms and a lifestyle-focused stay designed around comfort, community, food, and easy access to nature and recreation. The hotel is approximately 20 minutes by car from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, making it a convenient base for leisure travelers, families, and visitors exploring Selangor.

The opening marks several milestones for Dusit. ASAI Gamuda Cove will be the brand’s first property in Malaysia and its first hotel located outside a traditional city neighborhood. It will also become Dusit’s second property in the country, following Dusit Princess Melaka, which opened in December 2024.

A Nature-Focused Stay in Gamuda Cove

One of ASAI Gamuda Cove’s biggest draws is its setting. The hotel sits beside the 1,111-acre Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, a nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary where visitors can discover freshwater wetlands and observe native wildlife.

Nearby, the 90-acre Wetlands Arboretum offers another way to experience the area’s natural environment. Visitors can explore walking trails, go birdwatching, and take part in environmental learning activities while discovering the region’s diverse plant life.

For families and adventure seekers, SplashMania Waterpark is also close by. The 90-acre waterpark features 39 slides and attractions, while Discovery Park provides additional outdoor recreation and entertainment.

An electric tram network connecting key areas of Gamuda Cove further enhances convenience, allowing guests to explore the township’s attractions, commercial areas, and natural destinations without relying entirely on private transportation.

280 Rooms Designed for Different Types of Travelers

ASAI Gamuda Cove will feature 280 rooms designed around the brand’s focus on practical comfort and efficient use of space.

Accommodation options will range from compact rooms for solo travelers and couples to rooms with balconies, bunk-bed configurations, and a two-room family category that can accommodate up to six guests.

Selected rooms will offer views toward the wetlands. Standard amenities will include fast Wi-Fi, smart televisions, walk-in showers, and practical storage designed for travelers who value functionality without unnecessary excess.

The hotel will also feature an infinity pool overlooking the wetlands, a gym, co-working spaces, and flexible meeting and event facilities for gatherings of up to 100 people.

A Taste of Malaysia and Thailand

Food and social spaces are central to the ASAI experience, and the new property will introduce three dining venues designed around local flavors and casual interaction.

Nasi & Khao, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, will bring together Malaysian comfort food, Thai flavors, and familiar Western favorites. The concept reflects the culinary connections between Malaysia and Thailand while giving guests a relaxed setting for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Tea Shop will provide a community-oriented space serving curated teas and light bites from morning until late in the day.

Meanwhile, Pool Bar will offer handcrafted cocktails, refreshments, and snacks alongside views of the infinity pool and Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands.

Together, the venues are intended to make the hotel appealing not only to guests staying at the hotel but also to local residents looking for places to dine, meet, and unwind.

A Convenient Base for Formula 1 Fans

The opening of ASAI Gamuda Cove comes at an especially interesting time for motorsport fans.

The hotel is approximately 20 minutes by car from Sepang International Circuit, which is scheduled to welcome Formula 1 back to Malaysia in 2026 after a long absence. The Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia is scheduled for 2–4 October 2026.

Its location could make ASAI Gamuda Cove a practical accommodation option for visitors attending the race weekend, while its proximity to Kuala Lumpur International Airport provides added convenience for international travelers.

Beyond Formula 1, the hotel’s location also positions it as a potential base for travelers combining a visit to Kuala Lumpur with nature, family entertainment, and attractions in Selangor.

ASAI’s ‘Live Local’ Philosophy

ASAI Hotels was created for travelers seeking well-designed essentials, accessible rates, and a stronger connection with the destinations they visit.

Rather than focusing solely on traditional hotel facilities, the brand combines compact, functional accommodations with social spaces, dining concepts, and work-friendly areas that reflect each property’s surroundings.

At ASAI Gamuda Cove, that philosophy is reflected in its connection to the wetlands, family attractions, outdoor activities, and growing community around Gamuda Cove.

According to Donavanik, the hotel is designed to provide travelers with a comfortable, practical base while also creating new places for local residents to meet and dine. Its opening ahead of Formula 1’s return to Malaysia also provides an opportunity to introduce the ASAI concept to visitors from Malaysia and overseas.

Dusit’s Growing Presence in Malaysia

ASAI Gamuda Cove will become the fourth operating ASAI hotel, joining ASAI Bangkok Chinatown and ASAI Bangkok Sathorn in Thailand, as well as ASAI Kyoto Shijo in Japan.

The Malaysian opening is also part of Dusit’s broader expansion strategy in the country. Following the opening of Dusit Princess Melaka, the company is preparing to open Dusit Princess Ipoh in October 2026.

With its combination of nature, family attractions, dining, and accessibility, ASAI Gamuda Cove represents a different direction for Dusit’s Malaysian portfolio. Rather than positioning itself solely as a conventional city or resort hotel, the property aims to connect visitors with the emerging Gamuda Cove destination and the natural attractions surrounding it.

For travelers looking beyond central Kuala Lumpur, the new hotel could offer an alternative base for experiencing Selangor while remaining within easy reach of the airport, Sepang International Circuit, and the Malaysian capital.
