Alan Silvestri's Forrest Gump Suite brings together the warm, emotional themes from his celebrated score for Robert Zemeckis' film Forrest Gump. Built around delicate piano, strings and orchestra, the music captures much of the film's emotional character: innocence, love, loss, perseverance and the passage of time. Berklee's detailed study of the score notes that Silvestri deliberately made the piano a recurring musical thread throughout the film, beginning with the famous feather sequence. Silvestri composed and conducted the score, continuing his long collaboration with director Robert Zemeckis. The music was recorded at Sony Pictures Studios, with William Ross handling orchestration and Dennis Sands recording and mixing. The score went on to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score. The suite from Forrest Gump closes the original motion picture score album, gathering Silvestri's musical ideas into a longer standalone piece.
