NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Three Nashville firefighters resigned after police were called to investigate them for ordering drinks at a Broadway bar while on duty.

The incident occurred around midnight on Oct. 26, prompting Mayor Freddie O’Connell to call for accountability, WSMV reported.

According to the police report, officers responded to Dierks Bentley Whiskey Row after the bar’s manager contacted police when a bartender raised concerns that the firefighters appeared to be drinking alcohol while on duty.

The police report identifies the three firefighters as Athams Davis, Griffin Hunter and Daniel Wrenn, who were wearing Nashville Fire Department T-shirts and carrying department radios inside the bar.

When police approached the firefighters, they confirmed they were on duty but denied drinking alcohol inside the bar, according to the report. Officers interviewing staff learned the group had ordered two vodka-Red Bulls and a water just after midnight. While the bartender didn’t personally see them drink the alcohol, she provided officers with a signed receipt for the mixed drinks.

Police said they notified the fire department’s area commander, who came to the scene and immediately placed the three on administrative duty.

The firefighters were placed on administrative leave before resigning on Oct. 28.

The Nashville Fire Department confirmed it was aware of an incident involving three employees but declined to release further details.
